Snap Back in Articulate Storyline
Check out this fun drag and drop interaction I put together for a Wildfire Safety module. From a development standpoint, it demonstrates my solution to the problem of snap back for Drag and Drop items in Articulate Storyline.
Storyline has an easy “Drag Return” toggle for objects that functions to reset them if they aren’t dropped on an interactive target. However, there isn’t an inbuilt solution that I’m aware of to return objects to their starting position if they are dropped on such an interactive target, but shouldn’t remain there.
Most online resources I found suggested solutions based on reloading the slide or layer containing the interaction. This solution unfortunately doesn’t help in scenarios when you wish to allow some drag and drop items to remain in their new positions, while moving others back. In this exemplar, I have both activated the “Drag Return” option for all draggable items, and implemented a motion path to return unwanted items to their starting position. You can read more about this solution in my blog soon.
If you have another solution to this problem, get in touch! I’d love to hear from you.
